Recently, Nitish Kumar joined hands with the BJP and was sworn in for a record ninth term as Bihar Chief Minister as had two deputy CMs on his side as support.

The appointment of a deputy CM has been a long-standing feature of Indian politics with Anugrah Narayan Sinha from Bihar being the first leader to hold the post of deputy CM till his death in 1957.
