The Act aims to create a more inclusive and equitable society by legally recognizing and protecting the rights of transgender individuals
Key Features:
Legal Recognition: Recognizes transgender individuals as a third gender and their right to self-identify.
Anti-Discrimination: Prohibits discrimination in education, employment, healthcare, and public spaces.
Welfare Boards: Establishes state-level welfare boards to facilitate access to social welfare schemes.
Identity Certificates: Allows transgender persons to obtain identity certificates for accessing services.
Healthcare: Provides for separate hospitals and clinics for transgender healthcare.
Criminalization of Abuse: Criminalises physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse, and penalises forced begging and denial of access to public places.
