It was officially inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List.
It will be the 43rd property from India to be included in the prestigious index.
The Moidam is the first from the North East to be recognised as a World Heritage Site in the cultural category.
It is a 700 year old Mound-Burial System of the Ahom Dynasty from Assam.
Set in the foothills of the Patkai Ranges in eastern Assam, the property contains the royal necropolis of the Tai-Ahom.
Banyan trees and the trees used for coffins and bark manuscripts were planted and water bodies created.
They contain the remains of kings and other royals together with grave goods such as food, horses and elephants, and sometimes queens and servants.
The Ahoms adopted the Hindu method of cremation after the 18th century and began entombing the cremated bones and ashes in a Moidam at Charaideo.
