The Teesta River, a major right bank tributary of the Brahmaputra (Jamuna in Bangladesh), originates in the Himalayas near Tso Lhamo Lake in Sikkim.
It flows southward through West Bengal before entering Bangladesh.
The sources of the Teesta River also include the Pahurni Glacier, Khangse Glacier, and Chho Lhamo Lake.
The majority of the Teesta River basin is located in India, with only 17% of it situated in Bangladesh.
The Teesta River merges with the Brahmaputra in Bangladesh, and then, after converging with the Ganges and the Meghna, flows into the Bay of Bengal.
Major Tributaries of Teesta River:
Lachung Chhu, Chakung Chhu, Dik Chhu, Rani Khola and Rangpo Chhu are left-bank Tributaries.
Zemu Chhu, Rangyong Chhu and Rangit River are right-bank Tributaries.
