MEDIEVAL HISTORY
The Shah Mir Dynasty, the first Muslim dynasty in Kashmir, saw the arrival of influential figures who aided in the spread of Islam and produced notable kings.
Sikandar Shah (Sikandar Butshikan) served as the sixth sultan from 1389 to 1413, bringing significant changes to society across various domains.
While most sultans from 1354 to 1470 were known for religious tolerance, Sultan Sikander Shah stood out as an iconoclast.
He imposed taxes on non-Muslims, enforced conversions to Islam, and gained the title But-Shikan for his actions in destroying idols.
