The Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) is a collaborative effort launched by the Group of Seven (G7) nations to address infrastructure development needs in developing countries.
The initiative was first announced in June 2021 during the G7 summit in the UK and in 2022, during the G7 summit in Germany, the PGII was officially launched.
US President Joe Biden had called it the Build Back Better World (B3W) framework.
The initiative will help developing countries make improvements in four core areas:
Healthcare
Digital connectivity
Gender equality and equity
Climate and energy security
It has been viewed as a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
