Southern Naval Command

• The Southern Naval Command is one of the 3 command-level formations (others are Western and Eastern Naval Command) of the Indian Navy, headquartered in Kochi, Kerala at INS Venduruthy.
•  It is commanded by a Three Star Flag Officer of the rank of Vice Admiral with the title Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command (FOCin- C).
•  The Southern Naval Command is the training  command of the Indian Navy and is responsible for the training of all its personnel, both officers as well as sailors, from basic to advanced stages.
•  The Indian Naval Academy is also placed under the Southern Naval Command.

INS Venduruthy

• INS Venduruthy is an Indian Navy base, headquarters of the Southern Naval Command and the largest training establishment of the Indian Navy.
•  It provides administrative facilities to all training  establishments inside the southern naval command.
• INS Garuda is a naval air station located adjacent to INS Venduruthy.
