National Building Code of India (NBC)

The National Building Code of India (NBC), a comprehensive building Code, is a national instrument providing guidelines
 for regulating the building construction activities across the country.

Published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the code mainly contains administrative regulations, development control rules, general building requirements, asset and facility management etc.

It was first published in 1970 and has undergone revisions over the years. 

The current version is the National Building Code of India 2016 (NBC 2016), which incorporates modern practices and international standards.
