Holding Corps
In the Indian Army, combat formations are grouped and tailored under various Corps Headquarters, similar to Field Army Headquarters in other countries.
These Corps have numerical designations and are often known by their names, which may be derived from the cities where they are headquartered or from evocative names
Types of Corps:
Strike Corps (Offensive Formations):
Capable of capturing or threatening strategic and operational objectives
Holding Corps (Defensive Formations)
Designed to operate in a defensive role but contain significant offensive potential.

I Corps, headquartered in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
II Corps, also known as Kharga Corps, is based in Ambala, Haryana
IX Corps, known as Rising Star Corps and headquartered in Yol, Himachal Pradesh,
