AUKUS Alliance
A trilateral partnership for the Indo-Pacific between Australia, the UK and the US(AUKUS) formed in 2021.
Under this alliance the US and UK will help Australia to acquire conventionally armed nuclear-powered submarines.
The pact emphasizes freedom of navigation in the Indo- Pacific region including South China Sea also to challenge the regional hegemony ambitions of China.
The United States, Australia and Britain unveiled details of a plan to provide Australia with “nuclear-powered” attack submarines from the early 2030s.
Under the deal, the United States intends to sell Australia three US Virginia class nuclear-powered submarines, in the early 2030s.
