ASEAN
It is a regional organization established to promote political and social stability among Asia-Pacific’s post-colonial states.
It was set up on August 8, 1967, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration, also known as the Bangkok Declaration.
The founding members of ASEAN were Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
Its motto is “One Vision, One Identity, One Community.”
ASEAN Day is observed on August 8.
The ASEAN Secretariat is located in Jakarta, Indonesia.
ASEAN comprises ten member countries
They are :
Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines,Singapore,Thailand,Brunei,Vietnam,Laos,Myanmar and Cambodia.
India became ASEAN Dialogue Partner in 1996.
