It was first initiated in 2007.
The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a fifth-generation stealth, multirole combat aircraft with a single seat and twin engines, designed for all-weather operations. It is currently being developed for both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy.
The Mark-1 variant of the aircraft represents fifth-generation fighter capabilities, while the Mark-2 variant is planned to incorporate sixth-generation technologies. The aircraft's design is being developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). under DRDO.
The AMCA design is focused on minimizing radar cross-section and enabling supercruise capability.
