  • Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K and Roopa A, aboard INSV Tarini, crossed Point Nemo recently as part of a circumnavigation expedition by the Indian Navy.

  • The expedition for circumnavigation the globe on INSV Tarini by Indian Navy's Women Naval Officers is called Navika Sagar Parikrama.

    • INSV Tarini, named after the Tara Tarini temple (Odisha), is a 56-foot long second sailboat commissioned in 2017

  • Point Nemo is located in the South Pacific Ocean, approximately 2,688 kilometers (1,670 miles) away from the nearest land.

  • Geographically, this mystery point is located at the intersection of the equator, the International Date Line, and the 90th meridian west.

  • Officially called an "Ocean Point of Inaccessibility," it is a watery graveyard for titanium fuel tanks and other high-tech space debris.
