The PM Gati Shakti Plan, launched in October 2021, aims to revolutionize India’s infrastructure and logistics sectors by integrating various projects and streamlining execution. It’s features include:
Integrated Planning: The plan integrates infrastructure projects across sectors, supporting investments of ₹111 trillion (approximately $1.4 trillion) by 2025 for cohesive development.
Single-window Clearance: It introduces a single-window clearance system to reduce project approval times by up to 30%, speeding up implementation.
Geospatial Mapping: Utilizes geospatial technology to map infrastructure and identify needs, analysing data from over 100 agencies to improve planning.
Infrastructure Development: Focuses on developing key projects such as highways, railways, ports, and airports, including 50 new logistics parks to enhance connectivity.
Logistics Efficiency: Aims to cut logistics costs from 13-14% of GDP to 8-10% by 2030 by improving multimodal connectivity and reducing inefficiencies.
Economic Growth: Supports regional development by creating about 2.5 million jobs by 2025 through infrastructure and logistics improvements.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Features an online dashboard for real-time tracking, ensuring projects meet deadlines and budgets.
Government Initiatives: Complements the ₹20 trillion ($250 billion) National Infrastructure Pipeline and National Logistics Policy to create a unified infrastructure strategy.
