Vasuki indicus

  •  Recently, researchers in India have discovered the fossilised remains of a colossal snake that existed around 47 million years ago.
  • The fossils were found in Kutch, Gujarat.
  • Vasuki refers to the mythical snake often depicted around the neck of the Hindu god Shiva.
  • It belonged to the Madtsoiidae snake family (now-extinct).
