The Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ)

It is an environmental management area of the Pacific Ocean, administered by the International Seabed Authority (ISA).

It spans 4.5 million square kilometres between Hawaii and Mexico.

It is an abyssal plain as wide as the continental United States, embedded just beneath it are trillions of potato-size polymetallic nodules.
