PLI Scheme for White Goods

  •  Government reopens application window for Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (ACs and LED Lights) for 90 days.
  • The Scheme falls under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
  • The Scheme is to be implemented over a seven-year period, from FY 2021-22 to FY 2028-29.
  • The Scheme shall extend incentives ranging from 4% to 6% on net incremental sales of ACs and LED lights over the sale during the base year, viz 2019-20.
  •  The scheme incentivizes manufacturing of components or sub-assemblies which are not manufactured in India presently with sufficient capacity.
  • Mere re-assembly or reselling shall not be incentivised under the scheme.

 White Goods:

White goods are large household appliances typically used for cleaning or food preservation such as dishwashers, clothes dryers, refrigerators, microwaves etc,. They were originally named “white goods” because they were often finished in white enamel.
