 Industrial complexes refer to small or medium sized towns equipped with well-developed industrial infrastructure to attract the industrial entrepreneurs to locate their units in them. Example- Jamshedpur in India 

Features of Industrial Complexes

  •  Strong Infrastructure: This includes good connectivity to transportation (highways, railways), reliable power supply (grid or pipelines), and well-developed networks for banking, communication (fibre optics), and freshwater supply.

  • Financial Advantages:  Tax incentives, subsidies, and proximity to financial institutions make them attractive for businesses.

  • Forward & Backward Linkages:  Presence of a lead industry can create a network of supporting businesses (suppliers and customers) within the complex.

  • Strategic Location:  Access to cheap labour, raw materials, and markets can further incentivize development.

  • Government Support:  Planned complexes often benefit from additional infrastructure development and financial support.

 Jamshedpur Industrial Complex (Jharkhand):
