The CCPI, which has been published annually since 2005, is an independent monitoring instrument for tracking countries' climate protection performance. It improves transparency in national and international climate policy and allows for comparison of countries’ efforts and progress in climate protection.
Key Takeaways of CCPI 2024
The CCPI ranks countries in four important categories: GHG emissions (40%), renewable energy (20%), energy use (20%), and climate policy (20%).
India advanced from its eighth-place finish in the CCPI 2023 to the seventh place in the CCPI 2024.
No country did well enough in all index categories to get a very high overall ranking. Thus, the top three overall spots stay unoccupied.
