  • Researchers from the Zoological Survey of India recorded the forest-dwelling frog from Arunachal Pradesh.
  • It is a horned frog found in the Talle Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • This leaf-litter dwelling frog, known for living amongst tea leaves and sporting small horns, is dark brown in colour.
  • The species is named after the dominant Apatani community in recognition of their ingenuity in the conservation of wild flora and fauna.
  • It is distributed along the Eastern Himalayan and the Indo-Burma biodiversity hot spots of the country.
