Baishya Karst Cave on the Tibetan Plateau,
China, revealing that Denisovans lived there
50,000 to 200,000 years ago.
Denisovans are an extinct hominid species
closely related to modern humans.
First identified in 2010 from remains in Siberia’s
Denisova Cave, Denisovans are a recent
addition to the human family tree.
DNA evidence shows they were related to
both Neanderthals and modern humans,
with possible interbreeding among them.
