The Sarnath School of Sculpture emerged during the Gupta dynasty in ancient India. It is characterized by its focus on Buddhist themes, delicate details, and serene expressions. Located near Varanasi, Sarnath holds immense religious significance as the place where Gautama Buddha first preached the Dharma after attaining enlightenment.
