The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is one of the primary centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), under the Department of Space (DOS).
NRSC establishes ground stations for satellite data, generates and disseminates data products, develops remote sensing techniques, and supports disaster management.
It also offers geospatial services for governance and conducts capacity-building activities for professionals, faculty, and students.
NRSC operates through multiple campuses to address the national and regional needs for remote sensing data and applications.
India Meteorological Department (IMD)
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), established in 1875, is the principal government agency of India for weather and climate services.
IMD, headed by the Director General of Meteorology, operates under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) with its headquarters in New Delhi.
IMD has six Regional Meteorological Centers (RMCs) that serve different regions across the country.
IMD provides meteorological observations, current and forecast information for activities such as agriculture, shipping, and aviation.
Issues warnings for severe weather phenomena.
It also offers meteorological statistics for agriculture, water management, and industries, and conducts research in meteorology and related fields.
